Pricing Breakdown — What Strangers Miss
- Sun NXT ₹599/year is cheapest per Tamil title (₹0.11/title). But no new 2024–26 premieres like Leo (Prime) or Maaveeran (Prime).
- Aha Gold ₹699 gives Tamil + Telugu; buying Aha Tamil alone ₹399 locks you out of Telugu Devara. Gold is cheaper if you watch even 2 Telugu films.
- Prime ₹1,499/year includes Prime shopping + 1,100 Tamil films + 400 Malayalam dubs — best bundle value if you also need Malayalam.
How to Pick in 2 Steps
- Do you rewatch 90s–2015 Tamil? → Sun NXT is mandatory (Prime doesn’t have Annamalai, Padayappa).
- Do you want day-30 premieres 2024–26? → Prime + Aha. Skip Netflix unless you need English originals.
Setup: Install Sun NXT → profile → Language Tamil → sort year. Aha → toggle Tamil catalog at top.
Top Picks by Taste — What to Watch First on Each Platform
Sun NXT first-timers: Start with Annamalai (1992), Padayappa (1999), Kaaka Muttai (2014) — all Tamil-only + Eng subs, 1080p max. No Hindi, but original Rajini/Kamal voice unmatched. Use Sun NXT yearly ₹599, not monthly.
Prime newcomers: Leo (2023), Jailer (2023), Viduthalai (2023) — all Tamil + Hindi/Telugu dubs + 4K. Check Included badge, not Rent ₹149. Same Prime ID also unlocks Panchayat and Mirzapur Hindi originals at no extra cost.
Aha Tamil: Mathagam spinoffs + Tamil premieres day-1 in 4K. Needs Aha Gold (₹699) not single Tamil ₹399 if you also want Telugu.
JioHotstar Tamil: Mathagam (7.8), Label — Tamil Specials with Hindi dub in 7 days. Super ₹499 enough. Same subscription gives Stree 2 Hindi included.
Netflix Tamil: 400 titles + Korean Tamil dubs (Squid Game Tamil). Mobile ₹149 enough for phone, Standard for TV. See Netflix vs Prime for depth math.
