How to Watch Legally
- Sun NXT: Language → Kannada → Sort rating. 8 titles ad-lite but 1080p max.
- Prime Video: Search → Audio → Kannada → “Included with Prime” filter (beware rent ₹149 vs included).
- Dub check: Prime tiles show audio badges — 777 Charlie, Kantara, KGF have Hindi; Sapta does not.
Top 5 Picks — Detailed
1. 777 Charlie (Prime, 8.7): Dog + human road drama, Kan/Hin/Tam/Mal audios, 4K on Prime. Hindi dub retains Charlie’s emotions — safe for family. Watch with Eng subs for coastal dialect jokes.
2. Kantara (Prime, 8.1): Divine action, Kan/Hin/Tam/Tel/Mal + 4K. Hindi dub uses Rishab’s intensity well. Watch original Kannada + subs for Bhoota Kola chants’ full impact. Same Prime ID also gives Kalki Telugu.
3. KGF Chapter 2 (Prime, 8.3): Mass action, 5-audio 4K. Hindi dub is theatre-scale. No need ZEE5 for this — Prime exclusive.
4. Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side A (Prime, 8.0): Slow romance, Kannada-only + Eng subs. No Hindi — watch original. Side B continues same story, both Prime included.
5. Kaatera (ZEE5, 8.1): Rural action, Kannada-only + Eng subs. Needs ZEE5 Premium, not Airtel 1080p cap for best village night scenes. No Hindi dub — subs mandatory.
All five need Prime + ZEE5 + Sun NXT — cheapest combo in Cheapest OTT.
How We Ranked (Methodology)
- JustWatch Kannada filter 6 Sep 2026 → 200+ Sandalwood OTT titles.
- IMDb ≥7.1 + rewatch value (Kantara/KGF rewatch high, festival slow-burns lower).
- In-app audio verification: Hindi dub vs Kannada-only + Eng subs noted per title.
- 4K test: Prime/Netflix 4K confirmed, Sun NXT 1080p cap on 55-inch TV.
- Excluded YouTube-only and rent-only titles — included-with-subscription only.
What we left out: 5.x star vehicles with high search but low quality — listed only if culturally unavoidable. For Tamil overlap (KGF Tamil dub), see Best Tamil Platforms. For Telugu crossover, see Best Telugu Movies. Malayalam parallel new wave in Best Malayalam. Overall platform winner in Best OTT Platform. Cheapest access in Cheapest OTT and Bundle.
Cheapest stack: Sun NXT ₹599 + Prime Lite ₹799 = ₹1,398/year covers 15/20. Add ZEE5 only for Kaatera/Hostel Hudugaru.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which OTT has most Kannada movies?
Sun NXT (classic vault) + Prime (new premieres). Together 15/20. ZEE5 holds 3 recent Kannada mid-budgets.
Is Hindi dub available?
Only big titles (Kantara, KGF, 777 Charlie) have Hindi. Auteur Kannada (Sapta, Garuda) is Kannada-only with Eng subs.
Cheapest way?
Sun NXT ₹599/year + Prime ₹1,499/year = ₹2,098/year covers 75% list. Add JioHotstar only for Toby, Tagaru Palya.
Are Kannada movies in 4K?
Only Prime/Netflix biggies (KGF, Kantara, 777 Charlie) are 4K. Sun NXT/ZEE5 Kannada caps at 1080p. Don’t buy 4K tier for Sun NXT alone.
Which Kannada films have Hindi dubs?
Only event films (Kantara, KGF Chapter 2, 777 Charlie, Kaiva). Auteur titles (Sapta Sagaradaache, Garuda Gamana) are Kannada-only + Eng subs — watch original for best sound design.
Do I need Sun NXT if I have Prime?
Yes for classics — Prime lacks Annamalai-era vault and mid-budget ZEE5 titles (Kaatera). Sun NXT ₹599/year + Prime covers 15/20 vs Prime alone 7/20. Check Tamil vault logic — same Sun NXT value for Kannada classics.
Kannada alerts: Add FunTime → search “Kannada” → bell → track when a 7.5+ title arrives.
